That's a hard thing to do sometimes! I'm glad I managed to though, because Fire Emblem sucked me in good.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cRRdoA_rLCQ/YDWMrtoIg8I/AAAAAAAAl3g/nHXROS3kyNgJbly8wMoCq_uCh6TQb5zeQCLcBGAsYHQ/s1920/fire-emblem-three-houses-switch-hero.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1920" height="360" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cRRdoA_rLCQ/YDWMrtoIg8I/AAAAAAAAl3g/nHXROS3kyNgJbly8wMoCq_uCh6TQb5zeQCLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h360/fire-emblem-three-houses-switch-hero.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>If you're not familiar with Fire Emblem, it is a Tactical RPG set in a medieval fantasy world. There's plenty of characters and you level them up and assign them various classes as you progress through the story. This Fire Emblem features a hefty first half of the game where you play the role of a professor educating these young, up and coming lords and ladies. You can build relationships with them and guide them down their (or your) desired route of progression. There are options to do some of this automatically, but I enjoyed manually teaching my students.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/xdkyi7Myg-c" width="320" youtube-src-id="xdkyi7Myg-c"></iframe></div><br /><p>I spent about 90 hours playing through the game - which is a bit longer than the average, but I liked talking to everybody! You have a choice early on which house you'd like to join and teach. This is effectively a choice about which characters you want to play through the game with and which story you want to experience. I'm terrible at making choices! This game is full of them. The nice thing is it warns you up front if the choice you are about to make will have permanent repercussions to the story. So don't fret the other choices throughout the game - they mainly help you build bonds with your students.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1BliuHm-PnQ/YDWM_WUjNYI/AAAAAAAAl3o/YhcBXOcKXKsRwcNZLdThy9mU8HVJ1dxxgCLcBGAsYHQ/s1200/D-u8bYzUEAAM1rh.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="800" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1BliuHm-PnQ/YDWM_WUjNYI/AAAAAAAAl3o/YhcBXOcKXKsRwcNZLdThy9mU8HVJ1dxxgCLcBGAsYHQ/w426-h640/D-u8bYzUEAAM1rh.jpg" width="426" /></a></div><br /><p>For my first time through the game I chose The Black Eagles house. This means I've got Edelgard at the helm and her whole crew to work with. Choosing was tough, as there were characters I liked my first impression of from all the houses. In the end, I grew to love every one of the misfits in the merry band I chose. I was even able to recruit Felix from one of the other houses.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-L0e4rRzFUok/YDWNl6qLMLI/AAAAAAAAl3w/hDUfNP1OdsU6MtLZhefhmLLS5nariVylwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1920/FETH_Garreg_Mach_Monastery.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="930" data-original-width="1920" height="194" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-L0e4rRzFUok/YDWNl6qLMLI/AAAAAAAAl3w/hDUfNP1OdsU6MtLZhefhmLLS5nariVylwCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h194/FETH_Garreg_Mach_Monastery.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>Throughout the game there are days where you'll be able to explore the school and fish, garden, collect items, have meals, train skills, and bond with students. At the end of each month the story mission takes place. You can also take on quests and have non-story battles through the month to level up characters and collect rewards.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4VsR8Kf8Cpw/YDWN4q8D6fI/AAAAAAAAl38/9yaqHJb0AVU3Ce5vgUYMlFKSVSnHbSG4ACLcBGAsYHQ/s1200/D_nHNghUIAAs3Hp.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="800" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4VsR8Kf8Cpw/YDWN4q8D6fI/AAAAAAAAl38/9yaqHJb0AVU3Ce5vgUYMlFKSVSnHbSG4ACLcBGAsYHQ/w266-h400/D_nHNghUIAAs3Hp.jpg" width="266" /></a><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0r73X1vnvG8/YDWN4jkIVfI/AAAAAAAAl34/f2M8Uv8CIrwE0SnoQl6B1zPnjjEZPlHiwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1200/D_NUmxgUcAAkXQX.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="800" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0r73X1vnvG8/YDWN4jkIVfI/AAAAAAAAl34/f2M8Uv8CIrwE0SnoQl6B1zPnjjEZPlHiwCLcBGAsYHQ/w266-h400/D_NUmxgUcAAkXQX.jpg" width="266" /></a></div></div><br /><p>Now that I've beaten the game I have access to the New Game+ which I'm hoping to have the time to come back to one day. I'm super curious as to how the other houses stories unfold. Also, I'm excited to start a new game with the ability to carry over a lot of what I earned and collected in my first playthrough. One day. One day.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ChlyFKxQlco/YDWOOWZ3AII/AAAAAAAAl4I/B1g9BL7X20svuJI5tqIsAin-3n1zlWmewCLcBGAsYHQ/s1200/1200px-Ss_fe16_byleth_with_battalion.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="675" data-original-width="1200" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ChlyFKxQlco/YDWOOWZ3AII/AAAAAAAAl4I/B1g9BL7X20svuJI5tqIsAin-3n1zlWmewCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h225/1200px-Ss_fe16_byleth_with_battalion.png" width="400" /></a></div><br />Something I don't think I ever fully utilized was the battalion system. This is a new mechanic to the Fire Emblem series. Having a battalion equipped to a unit boosts some of its stats, but it also gives them the ability to perform a gambit - a sort of special attack. Despite spending lots of time leveling up everyone's leaderships skills I never really used the gambits all that much. I've heard they're more useful in harder game modes - maybe I'll try to utilize them more in my next playthrough.<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1X-xB2S04O4/YDWOcX_320I/AAAAAAAAl4M/pFIX9HG8AgYWCWZ-uO3l5Wlfdg-WRXj9gCLcBGAsYHQ/s1280/fire-emblem-three-houses-switch-screenshot04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="1280" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1X-xB2S04O4/YDWOcX_320I/AAAAAAAAl4M/pFIX9HG8AgYWCWZ-uO3l5Wlfdg-WRXj9gCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h225/fire-emblem-three-houses-switch-screenshot04.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>Overall, the game was excellent! It pulled me in. I enjoyed playing professor, I fell in love with all the character's in my house, and I enjoyed the battles. The battles themselves got a little easy the further I got into the game and the stronger my characters became. The final battle however, was a good difficulty. Maybe I'll try a harder game mode next time to have more of a challenge. The game was great, and I can't wait to play it again and experience a whole new story.</p>Vorgushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11462490979045487616noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9052445958050690104.post-70708399015821249952020-09-25T09:54:00.002-07:002020-09-25T09:54:38.856-07:00All New Shop Vorgus on Zazzle<p>I've been hard at work updating the brand for good ole' <a href="https://www.zazzle.ca/store/vorgus">Shop Vorgus</a>. I decided to keep the squid octopus thingy as my logo, but I gave it a new look and will be making it consistent through all the platforms. I've posted some of the sketches on my other blog, <a href="https://sketchbookvorgus.blogspot.com/">Sketchbook Vorgus</a>, if you want a peak at the design process. Below is the final design!</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ygj0iNdfYoU/X24aCODrE0I/AAAAAAAAkK4/SoP0WcqT4MsSBZhI9dOsZnEqmKLYCtPcQCPcBGAsYHg/s3547/BannerImage-RedBubble-2400x600.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="887" data-original-width="3547" height="160" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ygj0iNdfYoU/X24aCODrE0I/AAAAAAAAkK4/SoP0WcqT4MsSBZhI9dOsZnEqmKLYCtPcQCPcBGAsYHg/w640-h160/BannerImage-RedBubble-2400x600.png" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>I've cleaned up a lot of stuff at <a href="https://www.zazzle.ca/store/vorgus">Shop Vorgus</a>, organized things, and also added some new designs. In the future I'd like to expand to other digital marketplaces, but for now I'll focus on finishing up the original Zazzle shop. Below are some of the collections I've put together in the shop - click on them if you're interested, thanks!</p><p><br /></p>

This was a bit of a shock because it seemed to me to be a fairly active community, at least when I was posting there more often a couple of years ago, but I suppose things might have changed. What this meant though was that all of my sketches, doodles, and studies that I had uploaded over the years had been snapped out of existence. Thanks Thanos...<br />
<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="633" data-original-width="1200" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZvmKvVzYCzA/X1_yuK6LLCI/AAAAAAAAkGg/GTdGoG1t3m41DQ4FhA0G41Kp4fpwF0KqQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/Infinity-War-Decimation-Thanos-Scientific-Real-Life-Effects.jpg" width="320" /></div>
<br />
So, I had decided to start another blog just for that kind of content, <a href="https://sketchbookvorgus.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Sketchbook Vorgus</a>!<br />
<br />
I realize it won't ever have as much traffic as it did over at conceptart.org, but maybe it will get some. By putting it on blogger my hope is that it'll be less likely to just vanish, though who knows with Google because they make a lot of things that sometimes just vanish. I'm hopeful though. My other hope is that by creating a blog for that kind of content I'll be keeping myself to a semi-regular posting schedule. I still do a lot of sketching and drawing and doodling so the content is there - now I just need to post it!<br />
<br />Here's a taste.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="545" data-original-width="837" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UwjiWDIvi_c/X1_zRUHoLuI/AAAAAAAAkGo/Bc_xVhG7HCkCSORtpA33TjO0ZBQ8K3qTQCPcBGAsYHg/s320/Doodles-03.jpg" width="320" /><img border="0" data-original-height="692" data-original-width="990" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pQIiO552p4o/X1_zRQ_r1OI/AAAAAAAAkGo/xYfPL8CwALoD1oxUDhyxzp7i22sHCApeACPcBGAsYHg/s320/2020-01-21-Head-Hair-03-06.jpg" style="text-align: left;" width="320" /></div>
<div><br /></div><div><img border="0" data-original-height="764" data-original-width="600" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XeNWd3HuyZg/X1_zRWVlHAI/AAAAAAAAkGo/FlCcMc0Hgoo1ZMF12LVA3yXxanMWhuytwCPcBGAsYHg/s320/Hypnotic-Octopus-in-Kelp_Final.jpg" /><img border="0" data-original-height="581" data-original-width="781" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ARc9p1ZKSMw/X1_zReP5KxI/AAAAAAAAkGo/uzjdygNo28QvjC9I6vVU3tlCdTYomaElACPcBGAsYHg/s320/Expressions_05.jpg" width="320" /></div><div><br /></div>
If you're interested in this kind of stuff, drawing, sketching, study, perspective, etc. then I hope you'll check out <a href="https://sketchbookvorgus.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Sketchbook Vorgus</a> some time. It's still early days so there's not a ton there at the moment, but with time I'm hoping I'll fill it right up!<br />Vorgushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11462490979045487616noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9052445958050690104.post-86994334428670419602019-10-11T21:14:00.003-07:002019-10-11T21:16:00.828-07:00All New Triangle Dude WebsiteTriangle Dude Comics has a new home! Same website, <a href="http://tdcomics.com/" target="_blank">tdcomics.com</a>, but now it's hosted on Blogger. It looks nice and new, while also looking pretty much the exact same. However, now it's free to host! So that's the big change for me. It has everything from the old site, sans the downloadable desktop wallpapers. If that's something people really want me to bring back then I'll do it, but for now they are gone.<br />
<br />
That's it! Just a quick update. Hope everyone enjoys the new site :)Vorgushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11462490979045487616noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9052445958050690104.post-67845193760509314662018-09-16T01:17:00.002-07:002019-10-11T12:28:39.837-07:00Superbia's Tank is Alive!
That's right! The board game I've been been working on, for longer than I'd like to admit, is finally a thing that actually exists. It's printed. It's playable. <a href="https://www.thegamecrafter.com/games/superbia-s-tank" target="_blank">It's available for purchase!</a> It's a real thing.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ev122IAcwBI/W54N581d7qI/AAAAAAAAY6E/Y1kajEfMp6EB9Xw73yqq9eTOnuofKUCIACLcBGAs/s1600/01.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ev122IAcwBI/W54N581d7qI/AAAAAAAAY6E/Y1kajEfMp6EB9Xw73yqq9eTOnuofKUCIACLcBGAs/s320/01.png" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">All the parts of the game!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Here's a quick blurb about the game:<br />
<br />
A lost civilization known only as Superbia has been discovered in uncharted territory. Ancient and valuable tank part artifacts have been uncovered. Now, military organizations around the world have pledged to fund expeditions for the retrieval of these artifacts.<br />
<br />
Players give their tank commands to progress through the expedition. Shoot opponents to set back their advances, research locations to find powerful new tank part artifacts, and move all the way to the end to win! Develop a strategy utilizing a wide array of artifacts to complete the expedition and become the ultimate tank commander.<br />
<br />

<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zctbU4JmaK0/W54ONaOomfI/AAAAAAAAY6M/idJXymimhEs4KdbQts5tfM1rp5x5cweiwCLcBGAs/s1600/03.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zctbU4JmaK0/W54ONaOomfI/AAAAAAAAY6M/idJXymimhEs4KdbQts5tfM1rp5x5cweiwCLcBGAs/s320/03.png" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">A game mid-play.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
So, some thoughts...<br />
<br />
One, as I mentioned, this took a lot longer than I thought it would. The game went through various revisions and one huge revision where half the game completely changed. The gameplay should have been hammered out first and foremost before I started creating art for the project. Luckily, I was able to reuse most of the art throughout the various revisions, but there were definitely some things cut that I had spent lots of time on.<br />

Two, I think I've learned how long I can work on something until I start getting tired with it. Not to bash the game itself, but the process of creating the game was becoming a grueling slog. I was ready to be done with it a long time ago. The broken gameplay and subsequent huge revision to the game was a swift kick to moral, but I'm glad I stuck through it despite wanting to give up.<br />
<br />
And three, I'm really grateful that my friends helped test the game out - especially one long night where it became clear the game was nigh unwinnable. I really appreciate the critiques and ideas from my friends and wife. Also, how awesome is it that there is a print-on-demand board game store? I'm glad to live in an age where something like <a href="https://www.thegamecrafter.com/" target="_blank">The Game Crafter</a> exists.<br />
<br />
Well, thanks for reading, and if you ever get a chance to play Superbia's Tank I hope you have a fun, good time and thanks for trying it!<br />

I have to thank YouTube's autoplay for leading me to this band. Every so often the autoplay leads me down a new path of music listening while I do whatever sort of work I'm doing on the computer. Eventually, while wading through some pleasant music, I'll be piqued by a certain song - I have to check them out. I pop back into the browser and click to the YouTube tab. The Dø is what I found that day.<br />
<br />
I've really enjoyed their music so far and am excited to share! So if you care to listen here's a of couple songs from them I've been listening to recently.<br />

The instructor, Benjamin Anderson, went through some art basics and related them to pixel art. Things like shape, line, value, and colour. He introduces the free web based software <a href="https://www.piskelapp.com/" target="_blank">Piskel</a> which is easy and fun to use. Here are some of the exercises I did for this early section.<br />

The course then includes some animation. We start in <a href="https://www.piskelapp.com/" target="_blank">Piskel</a>, but end in <a href="https://www.aseprite.org/" target="_blank">Aseprite</a> which has a lot of extra features that help with animating your pixel art. It's free if you know how to compile it, or you can buy it off their website for about $20 Canadian. I'm not familiar with all the program's features, but the course does teach the basics of setting up a new animation and how to work with the key frames and colours to create your project. For the final assignment we had to google some animation key frames and base our animation off of that. Here's what I did!<br />

I really enjoyed the course, the instructor was great and knew what he was talking about. There were a lot of little tips and tricks you might not be able to learn on your own. It was great to just get exposed to a couple of nice pixel editing software and I had a lot of fun.<br />

I've got a bit of an update on the board game I've been working on. Superbia's Tank is still tankin' along - bit by bit. A lot of the artwork, which you'll see some of in a moment below, is mostly done. It's been a lot of work, but also a blast to create these really creative, wacky parts for each player's constantly transforming tank. Each tank is made up of three parts which are the treads, the frame, and the turret. As player's move around and explore the island of Superbia they'll discover cards with all manner of tank parts and other suprises.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pFcGyYSimDQ/Wmyv9QsqJeI/AAAAAAAAUEc/hZ95VeB-zao4elueGXqbEQs9mLg4FXsjgCLcBGAs/s1600/IslandMat_Small.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="738" data-original-width="738" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pFcGyYSimDQ/Wmyv9QsqJeI/AAAAAAAAUEc/hZ95VeB-zao4elueGXqbEQs9mLg4FXsjgCLcBGAs/s320/IslandMat_Small.png" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="font-size: 12.8px;">The island of Superbia. As you explore you'll add hex tiles to the island.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
The artwork, as I said, is mostly complete (as far as I can tell!). Gameplay, however, needs to be a little more thoroughly tested. I have tested the mechanics myself and managed to test the game with a group as well. More testing will be needed though. I want to make sure that at the end of the day the game doesn't have any odd hiccups or broken rules and that above all it is fun! Usually it's important to get the gameplay nailed down before doing a lot of the art, but I found people were not as interested in testing a game if they didn't have anything visually interesting to attach to. Risky move - we'll see how it pans out.<br />
<br />
Anyway, now for the good stuff!<br />
<br />
<br />
Artifacts: The island of Superbia is littered with old and powerful tank parts called artifacts.<br />

Events: Exploring the island of Superbia can be tricky business. As players move across the map they'll draw event cards that could test a players strength, or they may find a helpful item for later.<br />

There are so many card choices and it often involves doing some research and exploring on the <a href="http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Default.aspx" target="_blank">Gatherer</a> site. Afterwards, I like to check the availability and pricing on the cards on sites like <a href="http://www.magicstronghold.com/" target="_blank">Magic Stronghold</a>, <a href="http://www.facetofacegames.com/" target="_blank">Face to Face Games</a>, and lastly <a href="http://www.trollandtoad.com/" target="_blank">Troll and Toad</a> (I try to avoid the US sites ever since the loonie fell). I want to be able to get the cards I want at a reasonable price!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Depending on the type of deck I'm making there are all sorts of little guidelines to follow.<br />
<ul>
<li>Balance the land - around 40 in an 100 card EDH deck and about 20 in a regular 60 card deck.</li>
<li>Check mana curve - you want a decent spread of 1 to 4 mana spells with select 5 and up spells.</li>
<li>Non-creature to creature ratio - this depends on your deck, but you always need some creatures.</li>
</ul>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yMHa_iCq9dA/WdVzgQKwk-I/AAAAAAAATmQ/s9X8hAz-XA8sgrzSchb8CQn1WPrvJ0tSACLcBGAs/s1600/tumblr_ml9zcsHuyz1qh9nffo1_500.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="265" data-original-width="500" height="169" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yMHa_iCq9dA/WdVzgQKwk-I/AAAAAAAATmQ/s9X8hAz-XA8sgrzSchb8CQn1WPrvJ0tSACLcBGAs/s320/tumblr_ml9zcsHuyz1qh9nffo1_500.gif" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
EDH decks demand another way of thinking and the choice of a legendary commander. Currently I have <a href="http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=236504" target="_blank">Animar</a>, <a href="http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=373665" target="_blank">Tymaret</a>, <a href="http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=401970" target="_blank">Noyan Dar</a>, <a href="http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=402100" target="_blank">Zada</a>, <a href="http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=389573" target="_blank">Kemba</a>, <a href="http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=244674" target="_blank">Doran</a>, and <a href="http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=116737" target="_blank">Thelon</a> EDH decks.<br />
<br />
When I want to make a new deck I sometimes like to use the site <a href="https://deckstats.net/" target="_blank">DeckStats</a>. You can create your decks by searching the database and dragging and dropping cards into your deck. Afterwards, you can see a nice little graph and pie chart showing things like Mana Curve, Card distribution, Mana distribution, and Mana Source distribution. Then, you can save your deck (just make sure to make a profile on the website).<br />
<br />
For example, here's what my <a href="https://deckstats.net/decks/50090/432142-tymaret-pew-pew/en">Tymaret deck</a> looks like on DeckStats.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mV6cAeLrE9E/WdVyH5p-exI/AAAAAAAATl4/tWGboeCMYksVUi8RirWIT4BQUTIQOsjCwCLcBGAs/s1600/TymaretManaCurve.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="304" data-original-width="413" height="235" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mV6cAeLrE9E/WdVyH5p-exI/AAAAAAAATl4/tWGboeCMYksVUi8RirWIT4BQUTIQOsjCwCLcBGAs/s320/TymaretManaCurve.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I can easily see that the majority of my spells are quite cheap with 3 mana spells being my most abundant. From this I can hope (getting mana-boned happens to the best of us) that I shouldn't have trouble getting most of my spells out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4GHFfuZiDoM/WdVyHr_BlWI/AAAAAAAATlw/n0KFfNu5f30JSpnFi75eA1PLiAa6MRIigCEwYBhgL/s1600/TymaretCardTypeDistribution01.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="284" data-original-width="403" height="140" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4GHFfuZiDoM/WdVyHr_BlWI/AAAAAAAATlw/n0KFfNu5f30JSpnFi75eA1PLiAa6MRIigCEwYBhgL/s200/TymaretCardTypeDistribution01.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VhBwmTvoAsw/WdVyH6f36mI/AAAAAAAATl0/1nG997mDJ0U14CxqJDEtsNbj3m_cslU8wCEwYBhgL/s1600/TymaretCardTypeDistribution02.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="280" data-original-width="406" height="137" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VhBwmTvoAsw/WdVyH6f36mI/AAAAAAAATl0/1nG997mDJ0U14CxqJDEtsNbj3m_cslU8wCEwYBhgL/s200/TymaretCardTypeDistribution02.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Here you can see that I tried to balance my instants, sorceries, and enchantments while balancing the total non-creature spells with my total lands and total creatures. Creature (31%), Spells (31%) Land (37%). You can also take a look at a more detailed view showing artifacts etc.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
With this pie chart I can easily tell that I have more black cards than red cards (shown on the left). This will inform my decision on how many swamps and mountains to put in the deck (shown on the right). Taking the information from the previous pie chart I made sure that my Swamps and Mountains were balanced to accommodate my deck being more black. I've made sure to add a few more swamps (20) than mountains (16) in this case.<br />
<br />
There we go! There are others things to consider when making a deck of course. The specific abilities and effects the cards do are also incredibly important! However, I like to use DeckStats because it keeps me organized and lets me quickly see at a glance the other information to keep in mind when making a deck. Happy deck building!<br />

For NowWell, Nintendo finally released the final Smash Bros amiibo and they are now sitting on our shelf. I was a little frustrated that Nintendo would release 2 versions of the final 3 amiibo because, well, because that's twice the price for completing the collection! However, Corrine P2 and Cloud P2 have been extremely difficult to get a hold of. As such, my cognitive dissonance allows me to be satisfied with having a "complete" collection without having a "complete" collection. We may never get those final alternate versions of 2 of the characters, but at least we have 1 of each character!<br />
<br />
Now behold, the amiibo in all their glory! :)<br />

<br />
It looks awesome, and I'm proud to have actually played and trained up a number of them into Smash Bros monsters. The hunt for amiibos is over for now... though the amiibos of the 4 champions from Zelda: Breath of the Wild look awesome and dang it Nintendo I will have to get those too!Vorgushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11462490979045487616noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9052445958050690104.post-71650059462570237052017-07-29T18:01:00.000-07:002019-10-11T12:29:46.911-07:00Clash Royale DecksI've been playing Clash Royale on my phone since it first came out in 2016. Now, I don't play it all the time every day, but if I've got a couple minutes to kill here or there I'll pop it open and play a match or two. It's a lot of fun. Many of the matches are very close with each person intensely playing cards to counter their opponent. Sometimes, you get smashed... Other times, you completely smash them. Like I said - it's a lot of fun. I'm level 10 at the moment! Here's a few of the decks I've been using lately.<br />
<br />
This is my tried and true deck. It's gotten me just above 3800 trophies, and when I finally accumulate enough gold to upgrade a couple of the cards I expect to get even higher. There's nothing too fancy about it. There are no legendary cards, and most of the cards can be acquired early in the game. It sometimes has trouble with decks that use a lot of lightning, and I've had to develop some techniques for dealing with elite barbarians, sparky, bowler, and golem.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bwGN-tfL-ag/WXpo7LR63cI/AAAAAAAASXA/WH5T4EPX8rEQ0dI4EMvRYsur0ThFWRYbACLcBGAs/s1600/d1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="944" data-original-width="1080" height="279" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bwGN-tfL-ag/WXpo7LR63cI/AAAAAAAASXA/WH5T4EPX8rEQ0dI4EMvRYsur0ThFWRYbACLcBGAs/s320/d1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The mortar is integral to this deck and chips away at opponent's towers. Meanwhile, I defend it. Fire spirits are great for taking out minion horde and alright against elite barbarians when I also drop a valkyrie or mini pekka. The wizard and valkyrie take out hordes with ease, and the musketeer drops balloons and other flying pests out of the air. Mini pekka unloads a ton of damage if it makes it to the tower. Zap helps take out hordes, reset towers, enemies, and other cards with charge up attacks. Finally, the fireball is great for dealing a lot of damage in a decent sized area. Use it take out buildings and finish off towers - even better if there are some enemy units around to get hit at the same time.<br />
<br />
<br />
This is my current golem deck. Ever since I got a golem I've wanted to make a deck utilizing it, and I think I've finally found one that works for me. It's gotten me into the 3300-3400 trophy range, but I'm hoping to get a little bit higher. Unlike my other deck, this one has more often steamrolled opponents. However, I feel like I'm at risk of being steamrolled by my opponent with this deck more often - and believe me it's happened.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YqiN9xC5Xm8/WXppG6LaDXI/AAAAAAAASXI/Gb-gM2TzwBkf3i7QHfs1ox4MGkYaCqNdACLcBGAs/s1600/d2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="951" data-original-width="1080" height="281" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YqiN9xC5Xm8/WXppG6LaDXI/AAAAAAAASXI/Gb-gM2TzwBkf3i7QHfs1ox4MGkYaCqNdACLcBGAs/s320/d2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The golem is pretty self explanatory. Drop it at the back, or up front, and get ready to support it. It's usually a good idea to not drop it right away - find out what sort of cards your opponent has that might counter it. If those cards are out of rotation it might be a good time to drop the golem. Meanwhile, while waiting to drop the golem defend with the log, zap, and the wizard. If something heavy is coming drop the mini pekka or lumberjack. What we want to do is get the lumberjack and golem out at the same time. That makes for a terrifying golem. This deck has been pretty fun so far - I think I want to switch out the archers for the mega minion, but I need to level it up some more first.<br />

If you haven't given the game a try - give it a try! It's free, and though it has in-app purchases I've made it as far as I have without spending any money. Have fun, and don't be a jerk with your emotes!Vorgushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11462490979045487616noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9052445958050690104.post-88932112883262834912017-07-28T18:48:00.000-07:002019-10-11T12:29:53.645-07:00Superbia's Tank is off the Back Burner!I mentioned Superbia's Tank over a year ago <a href="http://blogvorgus.blogspot.ca/2015/05/superbias-tank-card-game.html" target="_blank">here</a>. I've had it on my mind ever since and the rules have been an ongoing work in progress. Tweaks and massive revisions aside I think I've gotten it to a point where I just need to do some testing.<br />
<br />

I've been working like a madman any chance I get to create line art for the game. At this point I've got everything drawn, but I haven't added any colour yet. This, hopefully, will come in time, but at this point it's high time I start testing the dang game! Here, take a gander at some of the artwork I've created for Superbia's Tank.<br />

Player's order their tanks around the board, and a player's tank is made up of 3 distinct tank parts. The turret, the frame, and the treads. Tank part designs have been influenced from a variety of different objects. The telescopic cannon, the top right image, for instance is designed using aesthetics of a telescope.<br />
<br />
Additionally, have a gander at how this artwork looks on the cards themselves. Again, colour hasn't been a priority because I want to start testing first.<br />

<br />
I'm hoping it will be a fun, strategic game. Players will discretely play orders and then reveal them. You'll want to draw cards to find the legendary tank pieces, claiming 4 of which wins the game, but being shot at makes it harder to draw cards. There will be a small board for player's tanks to move around, and the closer to the center you are the more cards you can draw. I can't wait to print out a prototype and test it out!Vorgushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11462490979045487616noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9052445958050690104.post-3069119541967727172017-02-06T23:30:00.000-08:002019-10-11T12:30:29.185-07:00Grand Vorgus Cup - Smash 4 Amiibo TournamentWell well well. It seems I've finally trained just about all of the amiibo I'd like to - all of my mains and the other characters I like to play. Sure, there are some others I might like to train, but the amiibo unavailability and cost of those amiibos means I'm drawing a line. Now, what to do with all these amiibo I've trained? It's fun to fight with them (and get obliterated most of the time), and it's fun to play with a friend and try our luck at defeating them. However, there's a greater question that needs to be answered...
Who among these daring amiibos is the strongest, the bestest, the most glorious champion?!<br />

<br />
After each round I will edit this post and add a new picture of the results. Let the Tournament... BEGIN!<br />
<br />
<b>Match 1 - </b>Kupa Junia Vs. Sanic<br />
At first Kupa Junia had a lot of trouble hitting Sanic which gave Sanic game 1. Afterwards, Kupa Junia opted for strategic strikes and sheilding. Sanic, unable to keep up with Kupa Junia's healing effects, lost the next two games - Kupa Junia not losing a single stock.<br />
<br />
<b>Match 2 - </b>Korby Vs. Dankey Kang<br />
Dankey Kang hits hard straight out of the gate, but Korby soon equalized the percent at 158% each. The pink puffball takes the first match with air superiority. In Match 2 Korby starts off strong, but Dankey Kang quickly counters and takes the match. Each match has been incredibly equal - coming down to a single KO blow. However, Korby takes the third win in these incredibly hard-hitting rapid matches.<br />
<br />
<b>Match 3 - </b>Greninjy Vs. Deddy Keng<br />
This set had a lot of skilled and nimble dodging from both parties. Greninjy especially showing off some fancy footwork with an incredible 10+ footstools. It was enough to overwhelm Deddy Keng in Match 1. In Match 2 and 3 Deddy Keng had gotten wise. Taking a whole stock of Greninjy's without taking a single percent. Both parties had a mistep and SD'd once, but in the end Deddy Keng was victorious.<br />
<br />
<b>Match 4 - </b>2Spooky4Me Vs. Mr Mustard<br />
Match 1 saw Mr Mustard predominantly chasing after 2Spooky4Me, but to no avail as 2Spooky4Me turned and striked at every moment. Mr Mustard managed to catch up with some huge hits in Match 2. In the final match 2Spooky4Me broke Mr Mustard's sheild, but took no advantage of the opportunity. With both fighters a shot away from victroy 2Spooky4Me clinches the win with a swing of his bat.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br />
That concludes Round 1. We saw each set go all three games - each fighter not wanting to go to the loser's bracket.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<b>Match 5</b> - BrainMagic Vs. Kupa Junia<br />
BrainMagic continually shut Kupa Junia down with it's
exploding shield in the first match. In Match 2 Kupa Junia
comes back with a vengeance. BrainMagic at 115% before having
to deal with Kupa Junia's final stock - Kupa Junia easily
takes the match. Match 3 saw BrainMagic open with a mega 71%
combo and take Kupa Junia all the way up to 194% before even
getting hit. BrainMagic wins the match after fighting hard to
deal a total 655% damage across Kupa Junia's 2 stocks.<br />
<br />
<b>Match 6</b> - Vorgus Vs. Korby<br />
Korby is the obvious air master, but Vorgus showing she is
just as capable. Plenty of aerials being exchanged, though
many are not connecting from either party. Match 1 and 2 were
incredibly even. Vorgus taking Match 1 with a charged beam
shot and Korby taking match 2 with a quick up smash. Korby
starts Match 3 by overwhelming Vorgus. Vorgus, in the end,
was unable to equalize the match and Korby finished her off
with 2 stock still in the bag.<br />
<br />
<b>Match 7</b> - P Bubs Vs. Deddy Keng
P Bubs was substantially knocked around in match 1 by Deddy
Keng. She did make good use of her Toad counter to deal some
nice damage, but it was too little too late. Match 2 saw P
Bubs determined to stay in the fight reaching 308% at one
point, but not being able to get the KO on a 228% Deddy Keng.
It's the first 2 Match set of the tournament!<br />
<br />
<b>Match 8</b> - Apollo Vs. 2Spooky4Me<br />
<br />
In Match 1 2Spooky4Me hits Apollo hard, but Apollo keeps the
match even thanks to the trusty Pikmin. Lucas breaks Apollo's
shield with an up smash and smokes him out of the stadium
with his bat. Another up smash from 2Spooky4Me proves fatal -
and again in Match 2. Apollo manages to break 2Spooky4Me's
shield, but it's early in the match and doesn't amount to
anything. 2 Spooky4Me proceeded to clean up.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br />

</tbody></table>
<b>Match 15</b> - BrainMagic Vs. Korby<br />
BrainMagic aggressively charges out of the gate surprising
Korby. Korby gets his footing and evens it out. Evenly
matched at 162%. The fighters trade stocks. It's a tense
first match but BrainMagic takes it with an exploding shield.
Korby launches a flurry of attacks in Match 2, but barely
manages to land any of them. The match stays even, but an up
throw from BrainMagic sends Korby to the Loser's bracket.<br />
<br />
<b>Match 16</b> - Deddy Keng Vs. 2Spooky4Me<br />
Deddy cranks it up to 11 while 2Spooky4Me tries to dodge as
many attacks as possible. 2Spooky4Me trying to end a stock
with an up smash, but misses 5 times before succeeding with
the bat instead. In match 2 Deddy manages to keep the game
tight and edges ahead in the final push - then lands a KO
hit. Match 3 saw a spookily untouchable 2Spooky4Me overwhelm
and take a stock of Deddy Keng while only taking 14%. Deddy,
determined to catch up, steps up his game. It's not enough to
avoid another KO from the bat though.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">That concludes Round 3! Both sets were high intensity. Now, we're left with BrainMagic and 2Spooky4Me facing off in a very psychically charged Semifinal set!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<b>Match 12</b> - Apollo Vs. Sanic<br />
Sanic clearly dominated at first, but Apollo hung in there
each stock - at one point avoiding Sanic's KO hits while at
252%!<br />
<br />
<b>Match 11</b> - Dankey Kang Vs. P Bubs
Dankey Kang quickly finishes the set, beating P Bubs 2
matches in a row with a total time of less than 2 minutes!<br />
<br />
<b>Match 10</b> - Vorgus Vs. Greninjy<br />
It took 3 long matches to settle the fates of these
competitors. After the third match - one of the longest of
the tournament so far - Vorgus took the victory.<br />
<b><br /></b>
<b>Match 9</b> - Kupa Junia Vs. Mr Mustard<br />
Who could have ever expected a brawl between these two family
members? Father Koopa immediately showed his alpha status by
showing no mercy to the poor child. Kupa Junia put up more of
a fight in the second bout and managed to get a stock off of
Mr Mustard. However, Mr Mustard proves he's still the king.<br />

<b>Match 14</b> - Apollo Vs. Dankey Kang<br />
Dankey Kang was unable to land as many hits as he needed (and
he only needed a few) in order to finish off Apollo. Apollo,
managing to hit back with many firm shots and finishing
Dankey Kang off with up airs more than once.<br />
<br />
<b>Match 13</b> - Vorgus Vs. Mr Mustard<br />
Mr Mustard stuck around well over 200% on every stock forcing
Vorgus to slowly fall behind as the battle raged. Mr Mustard<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Loser's Round 2 see crowd favourite, Dankey Kang, knocked out of the tournament. Joining him on the sidelines is Vorgus. </tbody></table>
<b>Match 17</b> - Korby Vs. Apollo<br />
Korby was too fast and furious for Apollo. Not a moment went
by where Korby wasn't right up in Apollo's face. The match
was pretty even, but Korby seemed to quickly get that KO in
before Apollo ever could.<br />
<br />
<b>Match 18</b> - Deddy Keng Vs. Mr Mustard
Deddy clearly knew his was around Mr Mustard in Match 1.
However, in Match 2 Mr Mustard opened the floodgates and
unleashed fury upon Deddy Keng. In Match 3, Deddy took bloody
vengeance against Mr Mustard knocking him out without losing
a stock and only sustaining a final 11% damage.<br />

<b>Match 20</b> - BrainMagic Vs. 2Spooky4Me<br />
BrainMagic's shield seems to be posing a problem for
2Spooky4Me. A stunning glare frome BrainMagic has 2Spooky4Me
unable to move and BrainMagic takes him out. 2Spooky4Me
equalizes the score quickly. BrainMagic, in an emberassing
mistep, SD's while trying to evade a pikafire from off the
stage! In the second Match a Prone BrainMagic takes the full
force of 2Spooky4Me's up smash. A hard ground slam down air
sends 2Spooky4Me flying into the ground and bouncing straight
all the way up and out of the screen. 2Spooky4Me secures his
spot in the finals with a homerun - proving BrainMagic's
perfect exploding shield is not invincible after all.<br />
<br />
<b>Match 19</b> - Korby Vs. Deddy Keng<br />
These 2 fast paced fighters come fast out of the gate. Deddy Keng takes the lead and begins to work Korby over without breaking a sweat. Korby dodges frantically to stay in the game, but it's not enough. In Match 2 Deddy Keng scores three up smashes and sends Korby flying. It seems Korby doesn't want the victory as badly as Deddy Keng who handily takes the set.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">2Spooky4Me is ready for the finals! Who will they face off against?</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<b>Match 21</b> - BrainMagic Vs. DeddyKeng<br />
It's an evenly matched brawl with each fighter hitting the
other hard. Deddy gets the first stock, but now sits at 174%.
BrainMagic takes him out after a while. BrainMagic, now
behind, tries hard to catch up. He does so with a well timed
shield and 2 forward smashes. It's anyone's game. Deddy Keng
manages to land a charged smash attack on BrainMagic's shield
breaking it! Deddy takes the first match with a calm forward
smash. In the second Match BrainMagic had all the oomph taken
out of him. Deddy shows his superiority over the psychic
creature. BrainMagic makes a small come back, but was just
too far behind to make anything more happen.<br />

<u>THE FINALS</u><br />
<u><br /></u>
<b>Match 22</b> - 2Spooky4Me Vs. Deddy Keng<br />
2Spooky4Me gets an early freeze on Deddy and hammers him
good. Deddy retaliates best he can. It's a close match.
2Spooky4Me lands another freeze, but doesn't make the most of
the opportunity. Deddy is falling behind as 2Spooky4Me now
giving him no time to catch his breath. 2Spooky4Me nails Deddy
Keng with that bat stick for a win. In the second Match the
fight was closely matched. 2Spooky4Me tosses Deddy to one
side, and then rushes over and under him to land a
devastating up smash. Deddy now falling behind again - unable
to get a stock off 2Spooky4Me even though he's at 123%.
Finally, Deddy lands a KO blow, but is now behind at 120% to
a fresh stock. 2Spooky4Me dodges a strong forward smash from
Deddy and lands his own down smash firmly into Deddy's feet -
sending him flying. It's enough for 2Spooky4Me to be crowned
the champion!<br />

Once to Mr Mustard and once to Deddy Keng. Deddy Keng had a chance to get revenge and take the Grand Vorgus Cup for himself, but was knocked flat by 2Spooky4Me in the final match. Thanks for reading! I'll leave with the final results.<br />

I want to share a deck I made a few years ago that I've just had the chance to revise. I call that deck Terra Terror! Mwahaha hahaha! It is the ultimate land control and decimation deck ever devised! Well, or so I hope. I actually haven't had a chance to really test it in a real game yet, but on paper it sounds brutal and cruel.<br />
<br />
The previous incarnation of this deck focused solely on things that blew up lands which is the point, but it seemed to have a tough time keeping itself afloat in battle. I'd end up behind, or outnumbered, or out of cards and out of options. This new version should be much scarier! Fear it!<br />
<br />
4 x <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Llanowar%20Elves" target="_blank">Llanowar Elves</a> - For the cheap ramp.<br />
4 x <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Akki%20Blizzard-Herder?printing=13984" target="_blank">Akki Blizzard Herder</a> - For the cheap land destruction.<br />
1 x <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Krosan%20Restorer?printing=9910" target="_blank">Krosan Restorer</a> - Helps get lands back.<br />
1 x <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Dwarven%20Driller?printing=10543" target="_blank">Dwarven Driller</a> - Helps destroy even more lands!<br />
2 x <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Countryside%20Crusher" target="_blank">Countryside Crusher</a> - Gets stronger and stronger.<br />
2 x <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Terravore?printing=9992" target="_blank">Terravore</a> - Hey! I get stronger and stronger too!<br />
1 x <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Mina%20and%20Denn%2C%20Wildborn" target="_blank">Mina and Denn, Wildborn</a> - For the additional land play and trample.<br />
<br />
4 x <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Winter%20Orb" target="_blank">Winter Orb</a> - Brrr, it sure is getting cold. ;) Slows things right down.<br />
4 x <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Custody%20Battle?printing=11235" target="_blank">Custody Battle</a> - Just hand those creatures over.<br />
3 x <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Crown%20of%20the%20Ages" target="_blank">Crown of the Ages</a> - And... now hand another creature over.<br />
3 x <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Gruul%20Cluestone?printing=21022" target="_blank">Gruul Cluestone</a> - More ramp.<br />
3 x <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Harrow" target="_blank">Harrow</a> - Some more awesome ramp!<br />
3 x <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Roiling%20Terrain?printing=16685" target="_blank">Roiling Terrain</a> - Bam! Damage! Ow!<br />
1 x <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Price%20of%20Glory?printing=9985" target="_blank">Price of Glory</a> - Don't even think about using instants during my turn.<br />
<br />
12 x Mountains<br />
11 x Forests<br />
<br />
First off, the biggest difference in this deck is now the inclusion of 4 <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Winter%20Orb" target="_blank">Winter Orb's</a> and the addition of ways for me to ramp despite my land situation. Winter's Orb slows the game to a screeching halt... if you don't have alternative ways of creating mana. The cluestone and elves help ramp it up and the fact that 90% of my deck can be cast with 3 or less mana definitely helps. I really wanted another one or two <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Krosan%20Restorer?printing=9910" target="_blank">Krosan Restorers</a> because once threshold is reached, and it will be with this deck, it can produce so much mana. Unfortunately, I only have one and everywhere I looked was out of stock.<br />
<br />
Secondly, the deck now includes some <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Crown%20of%20the%20Ages" target="_blank">Crown of the Ages</a> to accompany the already present <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Custody%20Battle?printing=11235" target="_blank">Custody Battles</a>. They go together like peanut butter and jam and bread and it's oh so delicious. Opponents will either have to lose a land, or risk permanently losing a creature to my side. Crown of the Ages can move Custody Battle to other creatures, and the original creature would remain under my control. It's devious and deadly.<br />
<br />
Third. I've got some potentially heavy hitters in the deck now. Previously I had next to nothing for this job and at some point you got to hit back. <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Terravore?printing=9992" target="_blank">Terravore</a> and <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Countryside%20Crusher" target="_blank">Countryside Crusher</a> are perfect for this deck. They should be big and bad in no time.<br />
<br />
Finally, I've added a few other cards that could prove useful. <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Mina%20and%20Denn%2C%20Wildborn" target="_blank">Mina and Denn, Wildborn</a> will let me play additional lands and give those heavy hitters some trample. <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Harrow" target="_blank">Harrow</a> will help me ramp. Price of Glory will protect and potentially destroy even more land. I do love <a href="https://deckbox.org/mtg/Price%20of%20Glory?printing=9985" target="_blank">Price of Glory</a>.<br />
<br />
All in all I believe it's a large improvement over the original incarnation. Terra Terror should be interesting to say the least!Vorgushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11462490979045487616noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9052445958050690104.post-34142569891884590442017-01-11T00:01:00.000-08:002019-10-11T12:30:45.729-07:00The Great Note Archive MissionI've been holding on to a huge couple of binders full of notes for years now. I have high school notes from all sorts of classes - math, physics, social studies, english, etc. I have post-secondary notes from the Art Institute of Vancouver. There's notes from my time in Kwantlen in the Drafting program. Basically, there's a lot of paper just sitting around taking up space. I'd like to change that!<br />
<br />
Part of me thinks, "I'll never look at this stuff again so just chuck it out and move on." Well, the other part of me says, "WHAT IF I NEED IT ONE DAY?!"<br />
<br />
So, to compromise I'll try to take all these notes, turn them into digital copies, and chuck the hard copies. It's a bit of an undertaking that's for sure. So here's what I'm going to do...<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Here's my Note Picture Taking K'Nex Apparatus!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I've created an apparatus to place my phone in and take pictures of every page of notes. It's built out of K'Nex and will allow me to slide a page in, take a picture, pull the page out, and repeat. I've opted for this method as opposed to scanning as it should simply be much quicker to simply hit a button on my phone every couple of seconds. The scanner takes too long to move up and down the page and wait for me to drop it and push a couple of buttons. This, combined with the fact that I don't need the quality to be amazing, just good enough to read, means I really don't need to use the scanner.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Here's the skeleton of the apparatus. The papers were only there to help reflect light.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
The photos will be uploaded automatically to Google's Google Photo cloud. From there I plan to download them (possibly crop them) and reupload them in an organized fashion to Google Drive. Google Photos are weird in that if you move them around in Google Drive they still relate back to Google Photos and I really don't know how else to break this connection other than by downloading them and then deleting them from Google Photos. This was they'll only be accessible in Google Drive and not turning my Google Photos page into a collection of notes. It should work.<br />
<br />
By the end I'll hopefully gain a couple shelves of space! Goodbye clutter!Vorgushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11462490979045487616noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9052445958050690104.post-77341749383064109252016-12-26T11:58:00.000-08:002019-10-11T12:30:52.430-07:002016 Music ExplorationThis year saw me bring in a pair of my headphones to work which I could plug into the computer. The music helps keep me focused and makes the day go by a little faster. It's wonderful! Now, I don't really subscribe to any particular music service like google play, spotify, etc. so the I've been getting tunes in my head is by listening to music on YouTube.<br />
<br />
I have the autoplay feature turned on for YouTube so I can just start playing a song and when it's done it'll go to the next music video and I can listen to it in the background. This has taken me on some random music adventures. Some are hits and some are misses, but I'm sure glad I've had a chance to learn about some new music this way!<br />
<br />
Here's some of my favourite songs and music videos!<br />
<br />
First off, my sister sent me this cool music video that also has some sweet beats. It put a big smile on my face! This song, "SOURCE," by Fever The Ghost also led me to some other great music.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/qYYtbGd_Rfc/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qYYtbGd_Rfc?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
One song and music video I was led to is "Let's Go" by Stuck in the Sound. The art style is clean and the story is kind of tragic, but in a way that should make you think a little bit.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/52Gg9CqhbP8/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/52Gg9CqhbP8?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
Another great song and awesomely animated music video is "Delta" by C2C. I had to watch it a couple of times before I noticed and realized that the triangle symbol on the neglected religious man's clothing also happens to be the thing people are all fussing over in the video.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/PZbkF-15ObM/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/PZbkF-15ObM?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
Yet another band found via autoplay is Concorde. They're a french indie band, but they do sing in English. It's hard to find much of anything about them, but they have a bunch of songs on YouTube you can listen to. Honestly, they're all worth listening to. All gold.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/E9hvqR1tHzU/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/E9hvqR1tHzU?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
I can't say enough about Lorn. The beats are always spot on and completely pull me in. Makes me feel like it's the future - the feeling of some mysterious, unseen, ambiguous force of the future. The music video for "Anvil" basically visualizes one possible future - one in which over population has probably occurred.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/HmMPXPi81sM/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/HmMPXPi81sM?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
Another Lorn music video, for "Ghosst(s)" is just a total creep you out sort of video, but oh so cool.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/TzzrzGyKo6g/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/TzzrzGyKo6g?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
One more from Lorn, but there are so many more to explore, is "Acid Rain." It's a solid tune that I just have to share.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/nxg4C365LbQ/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/nxg4C365LbQ?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
I could listen to this song over and over again. "Bye Bye Macadam" by Rone sounds great on it's own with a nice buildup, but I could also watch the music video over and over again. There's something hypnotizing about it. I like to think the dancing figures are beings exerting their influence over the universe and it's creation and flow of energy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/kfoJUeyMsOE/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/kfoJUeyMsOE?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
One heck of a catchy tune - Mr Oizo's "Hand in the Fire" has me bouncing my head up and down and singing along to the, uh, racy, euphemistic lyrics.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Ad6SxduZfis/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Ad6SxduZfis?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
A racy music video this time around as we've got Tame Impala's "The Less I Know The Better." The innuendo is pretty blatant, but the transitions and cinematography is top-notch. Plus the song is great!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/sBzrzS1Ag_g/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/sBzrzS1Ag_g?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
Another song found by jumping around via autoplay is "You Don't Know Me" by Son Lux. I'm hooked.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/GL35e5mwD5I/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/GL35e5mwD5I?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
"Change is Everything," also by Son Lux, is another great song. The Music Video blows my mind every time I watch.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/OGtUDffAdy8/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/OGtUDffAdy8?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
"The Cigarette Duet" by Princess Chelsea is totally hipster, but oh so fun and cute.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/4TV_128Fz2g/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/4TV_128Fz2g?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
I stumbled onto Mac Demarco and his album Salad Days. It's joy to just chill, work on something, and just listen to. Here's "Treat Her Better."<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/wCA7Rq0EBU4/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/wCA7Rq0EBU4?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
"Dazzle" by Oh Wonder is a song that gets me moving. I just want to groove to it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/A1EJOnYvA5Q/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/A1EJOnYvA5Q?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
Vitalic, an eletronic band I love to listen to, had a couple more new albums I didn't even know about! The autoplay stumbled me towards them one day and I was overjoyed to hear more. "Lucky Star" was a Vitalic reawakening for me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/E3KOkqdmXi0/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/E3KOkqdmXi0?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
"Stamina," also by Vitalic, gets me pumped up. Ladies and gentleman, CRANK IT UP!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/UK-lGSYKaaM/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/UK-lGSYKaaM?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
It has a bit of a mind-bending music video to go along with it's catchy track. Uffie's "Difficult" is fun.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/HVpir5vSA78/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/HVpir5vSA78?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
Gesaffalstein's "Pursuit" music video seems to tell the story of the upbringing of some militaristic dictator and mad leader told via snapshots of his life. It's a great tune. (WARNING NSFW)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/oRSijEW_cDM/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/oRSijEW_cDM?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
Metronomy has a new album this year. Summer '08 is an incredible album and every song is dripping with their distinct style. Here's one of my favourites - "Night Owl."<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/O0drWXOpm-Q/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/O0drWXOpm-Q?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
Sylvan Esso has many songs that are a joy to listen to. Here's just one of their excellent songs, "Hey Miami."<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/3mh2RctlGxc/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3mh2RctlGxc?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
Neon Indian was a favourite from years ago. They've got new music! YEAH! Here's one of their awesome tunes, "Slumlord Rising."<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/l0wPHAau1ts/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/l0wPHAau1ts?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
There's more, oh there is so much more! Let's just end on a couple of Kavinsky Tracks. "Pacific Coast Highway" first and lastly "Odd Look." Very 80's. Very cool.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/-5FKNViujeM/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-5FKNViujeM?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/qT0iQRjHbW4/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qT0iQRjHbW4?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
Well, this has been one of my largest music posts that's for sure. I've enjoyed hearing so much new music this year - the above examples are only scratching the surface. If you're looking for new music give YouTube's autoplay a try and just see where it takes you. Start with a song you like, and just let it ride. Hopefully you've enjoyed what I've shared with you, and I can't wait to hear more new stuff in 2017!Vorgushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11462490979045487616noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9052445958050690104.post-78531859972956305612016-12-26T11:42:00.000-08:002019-10-11T12:31:00.119-07:00Merry Triangle Dude Christmas!Merry Christmas everyone! I hope everyone had a great day and a very merry Christmas. I know I'll be eating some delicious home cooked food later and spending time with family and friends. Two things I thoroughly enjoy (oh man that food is going to be yummy in my tummy). Also, we actually got some snow this year which is very exciting! There hasn't been snow in December in years, so many frozen-falling-iceless years... So it's nice to have some snow for a change! Anyhow, here's a special Triangle Dude Christmas card. Merry Christmas!<br />

The heavens have parted and an unimaginable glory has beamed its light upon us. From the aether beyond the realms of mortal beings a gift has hence been delivered unto all of thee. Hail the gift. Give it your praise. Rejoice!<br />

<br />
I'll rejoice because, whew, that was a lot of work!<br />
<br />
This is it. The Triangle Dude Comics Volumes 2, 3, and 4 are finally complete. It's a weird feeling to have Triangle Dude Comics come to a bit of a close. Years and years it's been going and while I haven't always consistently uploaded comics I always had the intent of reaching the point I've finally reached today. Is this the end for Triangle Dude? For now, perhaps yes, but I completely reserve the right to jump back to it one day. There are other stories to tell and other projects to work on.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Alas, do not despair, this is a joyous day. Each and every comic may now find a home in a physical form. I'm also excited to finally put the book exclusives out into the world. Here's a peak at what each book contains in addition to extra exclusive comics and character write ups for the variety of wacky Triangle Dudes.<br />

I pushed all other projects and ideas and even regular drawing practice off the table and said, "David, this is your one goal, your one goal is to complete Volume 2, 3, and 4 for Triangle Dude and NOTHING ELSE!"<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Proof of the proofs</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Well all that focus has paid off because I literally now hold the proof copies of these books. The physical manifestation of hours of hard work has arrived before me and I'm elated! I'm proud of these books and I hope whoever else one day buys them can be happy to own a copy and not be totally embarrassed that it's a piece of junk. To ensure nobody puts junk on their bookshelf I must now proof read these proof copies and correct any mistakes I can find.<br />
<br />
I'm hoping to finish these beasts before the end of September and have them available on my website and Amazon.Vorgushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11462490979045487616noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9052445958050690104.post-10069439581967983752016-05-08T21:23:00.001-07:002019-10-11T12:31:52.338-07:00Triangle Dude and The Chalice of the Fuzzy PickleDun da-da dun! Well, where do we go from here? I believe there will be a slow down in comics for the time being. The books are where the focus of my energies will be going in the near future. Look forward to hearing about their release... sometime! In the mean time here is a link to the <a href="https://www.createspace.com/3851604" target="_blank">Triangle Dude Comics Volume 1</a> book!Vorgushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11462490979045487616noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9052445958050690104.post-34860219368515288782016-02-10T23:40:00.001-08:002019-10-11T12:31:58.789-07:00Triangle Dude Returns! For now...Huzzah! I finally started to put some more Triangle Dude Comics online!<br />
<br />
Check out the first new comic <a href="http://tdcomics.com/viewcomic.php?id=379" target="_blank">here</a>!<br />
<br />
The goal is to reach the fabled 400th comic. It's all part of getting the comics into print form. Volume 1 contains the first 100 comics and is already <a href="http://www.amazon.ca/Triangle-Dude-Comics-David-Gray/dp/1477547134/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1455175984&sr=8-1&keywords=triangle+dude+comics" target="_blank">out</a>. Volume 2, and Volume 3 are well into the works and for that matter so is Volume 4. However, with each volume having 100 comics each (plus cool exclusives) it means I have some more comics to make! Good news for everyone!<br />
<br />
After comic 400 I have some idea of what I want to do, but we'll see. As it stands I'd like to start a large story arc tentatively titled "To Christmas." It's a story I wrote years ago and have a minuscule amount of sketches for, but it's something I really want to do. Hopefully it will be the high stakes, wacky, thrilling, triangle dudiest adventure yet! It will be a full length story arc too, none of these 3, 4, 5, or even 6 comic story arcs. Nope. Not that.<br />
<br />
It will probably be a whole 100 comics all on its own!<br />
<br />
... I can't get ahead of myself now though. I'm focusing on some new comics for the website right now and to finish Triangle Dude Volume 2, 3, and 4. :)Vorgushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11462490979045487616noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9052445958050690104.post-81314587110130305912016-02-09T23:38:00.000-08:002019-10-11T12:32:04.752-07:00Wonderful 101 is Mostly Wonderful<div dir="ltr">
I recently finished wonderful 101 for the Nintendo Wii U - another in a long line of games I've owned for what seems like forever but am only just getting around to playing/beating. The ending is still pretty fresh in my mind, not only for how over the top it was, but also for getting out of my seat and laughing out loud for reals. For reals peoples.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ehdq11mskOI/VrrnvRfpTxI/AAAAAAAAEss/tTKKz1BkkQA/s1600/klklk.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ehdq11mskOI/VrrnvRfpTxI/AAAAAAAAEss/tTKKz1BkkQA/s320/klklk.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
This game involves defending the earth with a group of 100 super heroes that, together, can morph into a variety of shapes. Each level plays in stages or missions and involve a number of fights against enemies. Most of the time when it's time to fight an enemy the game cordons off the immediate area and you must defeat them to continue. The levels each feature a variety of fights and the very end of each level is a boss fight. The boss fights are all very different and often quite different from the normal gameplay. It's a lot of fun!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RkZjG5Eaaw4/Vrrnv6CtbII/AAAAAAAAEs4/Mpt7FFq8woA/s1600/the-wonderful-101-8-19-02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RkZjG5Eaaw4/Vrrnv6CtbII/AAAAAAAAEs4/Mpt7FFq8woA/s320/the-wonderful-101-8-19-02.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">A small but deadly group - it can grow to 100 strong!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
</div>
<div dir="ltr">
Wonderful 101 knows how to fun with itself and definitely got more than few chuckles out of me. The characters are all unique and the dialogue is often sprinkled with little jokes. Because of this the story comes off a little light-hearted and casual, but it does have its serious moments. <br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lJEFpY0f84s/VrrnvaIGG-I/AAAAAAAAEsw/YxH-jo-hdb8/s1600/02_02.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="127" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lJEFpY0f84s/VrrnvaIGG-I/AAAAAAAAEsw/YxH-jo-hdb8/s320/02_02.png" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Wonder White, Black, Green, Red, Blue, Pink, and Yellow.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
</div>
<div dir="ltr">
The game itself is challenging... I played it on normal mode and even an experienced gamer like myself had difficulty with some of the levels and fights. I used 4 continues on a single level once! It was incredible! Though the game has some stiff opponents it's still a lot of fun to kick butt with your ever expanding array of unite morph attacks. Fists, whips, claws, swords, guns, hammers and more.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FoLfJkiovzg/VrrnwD2ONEI/AAAAAAAAEs8/g23FqE27bn4/s1600/the-wonderful-101-gameplay6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FoLfJkiovzg/VrrnwD2ONEI/AAAAAAAAEs8/g23FqE27bn4/s320/the-wonderful-101-gameplay6.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Whip it, whip it good!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
</div>
<div dir="ltr">
The game has a couple of downfalls. One of the most annoying is sometimes just trying to figure out where to go or what to do. The camera is sometimes so focused on your group of heroes that it's hard to know what your surroundings are... For instance, I've run right into a fire or off a ledge a number of times for simply not being able to see where I was going. I think a lot of the frustrations I had with this game stem from this issue, but I wouldn't let it hold me back from recommending the game to others.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Giant alien robots are a plenty.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
</div>
<div dir="ltr">
The whole experience was a lot of fun and it makes me wish there were more games willing to take some risks and do something completely different. I've enjoyed my time playing wonderful 101, and I've had one of the best laugh out loud moments from a game ever thanks to it. I just wish more people knew about the game and had seen the ending so I could have someone to share it with! Awww well. As wonder green would say, c'est la vie!<br />

I absolutely enjoyed it, but oh boy is it long. When I first decided to get back to my Xenoblade file it had approximately 46 hours invested in it already. I underestimated that it would take me another 48 hours to beat it for a total of 94 hours! </span><span style="font-family: "arial"; font-size: 14.6667px; line-height: 1.38; white-space: pre-wrap;">I mostly rushed through the last half of this game and I'm still astounded at the amount of content. There's still the rest of Colony 6 to rebuild, my collectopedia to fill out, skill trees to unlock, quests to finish, and unique monsters to fight for affinity coins.</span></div>

All in all there was still a great deal of game left for me to enjoy. The story took some unexpected twists as well which I will not spoil for you here, but definitely kept me intrigued. Lots of bosses and cinematics in the home stretch of the game, and I'll never get tired of seeing the giant Mechonis or Bionis in the distance.</span></div>

Cities, mountains, fields, and all sorts of life teem across the enormous gods bodies who rest atop an endless infinite sea below. The locales are all very original and creative and the sights are enough to make you stop and just soak it all in. Standing in a particular vantage point it's easy to see the giant god in the distance, or a felled arm lying atop the ocean. It's very cool. It also makes for some fairly large areas to explore! It's a real-time combat system with cool down based special attacks and auto-attacks. I used Melia predominantly and got into a good rhythm and pattern for fighting various enemies. Being able to play as any of the characters though means you can always switch it up and try someone new. The AI for your teammates is fairly good, but I've read in various places that Melia's AI is not good at all - hence why decided to control her myself. You're free to have whatever team combination you want though, but some characters are more suited to tanking or dps'ing.</span></div>

I just want to play! I never felt like that near the end though - as they would enhance and progress the story and character development. It's well worth getting to the end of the game - mind blown!</span></div>

The game was also brought to the Nintendo 3DS not too long ago as well though you'll need the enhanced power of the "New Nintendo 3DS" to play it. It's been a blast traversing the terrain, battling creatures large and small, completing quests, and experiencing the story. The game drags a bit here and there, and you might need to take a break once in a while, but it's worth putting in the time to finish it.</span></div>

So, in the spirit of reducing my material possessions, I've concluded, through much heartache, that my Nintendo Power magazines really do take up a LOT of space. I have nearly the entire collection in hard copy and am only missing about 20 or 30 in all out of 285... that's a lot of paper! And boy does it weigh a gosh darn ton (as my back can attest to).<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_l5AyLUAxuY/Vme2Zb5MELI/AAAAAAAAEiA/2yxwX0huW30/s1600/IMG_20151208_210132772.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_l5AyLUAxuY/Vme2Zb5MELI/AAAAAAAAEiA/2yxwX0huW30/s320/IMG_20151208_210132772.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">That's only about half of them...</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I don't want to completely get rid of them though... Nintendo Power was a huge part of my life growing up. My parents got me a subscription each year as part of my birthday present and I was always so excited to receive my newest issue. I'd read the magazine through cover to back and sometimes do it multiple times. This huge stack of coloured paper holds a plethora of nostalgia. How am I to part with it - while not parting with it?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QeXdHS9lTDI/Vme3J8UWYrI/AAAAAAAAEiI/9B2-d-KiIzw/s1600/20140531062840-9b46ad45.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="268" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QeXdHS9lTDI/Vme3J8UWYrI/AAAAAAAAEiI/9B2-d-KiIzw/s320/20140531062840-9b46ad45.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Well the digital age is well upon us and it seems there are a good number of Nintendo Powers scanned and available online at websites like <a href="http://www.emuparadise.me/magazine-comic-guide-scans/magazines" target="_blank">EmuParadise</a> and <a href="http://www.retromags.com/" target="_blank">RetroMags</a>. Still, they only account for about half of the issues in existence... which means I'm still left with some hard copies. I wish I could find them all, but some extensive googling has turned up nothing past what the before mentioned websites already host.<br />
<br />
What does that mean for me?! What will I do?! Well - I'm up for the task. I can pick up where others have left off I suppose. Let's start the scanning!!!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rt_fEI1BWu0/Vme4Kd36USI/AAAAAAAAEiY/LwS8zoV3w_A/s1600/maxresdefault.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rt_fEI1BWu0/Vme4Kd36USI/AAAAAAAAEiY/LwS8zoV3w_A/s320/maxresdefault.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UuP8d0Ns4kQ/Vme4MowaMpI/AAAAAAAAEig/KqEllwZSSac/s1600/DM7i0gA.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="222" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UuP8d0Ns4kQ/Vme4MowaMpI/AAAAAAAAEig/KqEllwZSSac/s320/DM7i0gA.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
...okay, so it's actually a lot of scanning. I'm worried I'll go through a scanner or two! I roughly calculated just over 15,000 pages to scan. COUGH. Ahem. Woah... *feeling mildly dizzy*<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tI-68qqEacI/Vme4uqo4bhI/AAAAAAAAEio/6g-PoX_Nqc0/s1600/n-MATURE-DIZZY-large570.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="133" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tI-68qqEacI/Vme4uqo4bhI/AAAAAAAAEio/6g-PoX_Nqc0/s320/n-MATURE-DIZZY-large570.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">RRrrrr... Mmmm... Oh Gee... it hurts.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Ever wish you could clone yourself consequence free? It looks like I'll be holding onto some of my hard copies for some time to come. I'd like to start scanning them and completing the entire Nintendo Power digital collection, but even if I scanned 1 a week it would still take me nearly 3 years to finish... I guess I'll see. No promises!Vorgushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11462490979045487616noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9052445958050690104.post-46187586430834553692015-11-24T22:18:00.000-08:002019-10-11T12:33:51.400-07:00N64 Cartridges: What Are You?Almost everyone stores their N64 Cartridges the same way... front to back. Not open-faced like some deconstructed sandwich on Cutthroat Kitchen. It's just not practical - they are designed to be stored like this:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pmsPifbLdcY/Vk5kxOg51II/AAAAAAAAEdc/_5j7ZytrZVg/s1600/images.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pmsPifbLdcY/Vk5kxOg51II/AAAAAAAAEdc/_5j7ZytrZVg/s1600/images.jpg"></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Like this!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-POe_L5OjPoo/Vk5kxCaEEEI/AAAAAAAAEdo/cy15zHDcEXU/s1600/289iwwg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-POe_L5OjPoo/Vk5kxCaEEEI/AAAAAAAAEdo/cy15zHDcEXU/s320/289iwwg.jpg" width="320"></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">You can't store them like this! Who has that much floor space?!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
But after storing them front to back what is what? What game are you cartridge 6th from the left. I have no idea - the cartridge probably doesn't even know what game it is because it's so disorganized. The front of the cartridge lets everyone know who you are, but you are hidden behind other confused cartridges.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KrWnq_Nh_48/Vk5ljZ8iBHI/AAAAAAAAEd0/XW2ipSknKT0/s1600/dcfa356e294726a8674f93336fff4ec31d4b8ba9612ef75bdcaf4dd180f9bf66.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="230" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KrWnq_Nh_48/Vk5ljZ8iBHI/AAAAAAAAEd0/XW2ipSknKT0/s320/dcfa356e294726a8674f93336fff4ec31d4b8ba9612ef75bdcaf4dd180f9bf66.jpg" width="320"></a></div>
<br />
So now if I want to find Quest 64 and fondly remember the terrible nostalgia of grinding enemies and hitting them with my little oaken staff I have to look through each and every cartridge until I find it! WHAT?! Nintendo, Nintendo, what were you thinking? There's perfect real estate on top of the cartridge for a label!<br />
<br />
The solution is to make our own - or for those who are lazy and want something probably waaaay nicer than any home made sort of label you could just pick up some of these:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fIk1BV-Muzs/Vk5kw_uNSRI/AAAAAAAAEdk/IiJJ8HIPWhc/s1600/h2-noscale.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fIk1BV-Muzs/Vk5kw_uNSRI/AAAAAAAAEdk/IiJJ8HIPWhc/s320/h2-noscale.jpg" width="320"></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Oh thank goodness!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Sweet mother of cartridge identification! It works perfect and looks great to boot! These stickers are the must-have solution. The pack comes with the entire North American N64 game collection. I picked some up a few weeks ago and they were easy to stick on and look fantastic. You can pick them up from this <a href="https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/196193603/nintendo-n64-cartridge-spine-top-end" target="_blank">Etsy shop - AfterMidnightps</a>!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--xwFo3Ltnpg/VlVSb_0y4uI/AAAAAAAAEg0/lbfx2khtmIo/s1600/il_570xN.708265370_5u7l.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/--xwFo3Ltnpg/VlVSb_0y4uI/AAAAAAAAEg0/lbfx2khtmIo/s320/il_570xN.708265370_5u7l.jpg" width="180"></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Aww yeah, that's the stuff!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
For us Canadians it's a little pricey with our flailing dollar, but I bit the Bullet Bill and ordered it. Totally worth it in my opinion!Vorgushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11462490979045487616noreply@blogger.com0
